Lung Cancer
Lung Cancer: The Basics
Lung cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the cells of the lungs, typically in the bronchi or other parts of the lungs. It is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, and can be classified into two main types: non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Symptoms often appear in advanced stages and may include persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, and coughing up blood. Treatment options vary and may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
